Orthokeratology Contact Lenses

Orthokeratology also referred to as ortho-K uses rigid gas permeable contacts to gently shape away nearsightedness. The lenses are worn at night while the patient sleeps. The effect lasts about 24 hours. That means that during the day no lenses are required. Ortho-K contact lenses can be an effective alternative to glasses or LASIK. It is especially exciting to use with young people as the progression associated with nearsightedness is often stopped.

Ortho K

Ortho K is sometimes referred to as CRT or corneal refractive therapy.  CRT is really just a new name for the same concept. However, there are definitely changes in the lenses that are currently used.  Ortho K  lenses , like the Dream Lens, use reverse geometry to better center and more accurately reshape the cornea.  These newer corneal reshaping lenses also have newer plastic which has much higher dk values. This means that the lenses are highly oxygen permeable and can be worn at night.
